String Inverters
String inverters connect multiple PV panels to a single solar inverter. Consult this block diagram to find Littelfuse components that help these units operate safely and efficiently. Our solutions include MOSFET dc–dc converters that perform maximum power point tracking (MMPT) to avoid overload inverter circuits. We also supply many types of overcurrent, overvoltage, lightning, and ESD protection.
Product Categories
TVS Diode Arrays
TVS diode arrays protect electronics from damage due to transient voltage surges and electrostatic discharges (ESDs). Littelfuse offers a variety of these surge protective devices (SPDs) in SOIC, DIP, flipchip, and other designs. Our lightning SPDs direct massive voltage surges from lightning strikes on outdoor equipment to ground. Our ultra-low capacitance TVS diodes provide ESD protection to data ports and cables. We also make SPDs specifically for automotive applications. Find your solution in our Circuit Protection Products Selection Guide.
Multilayer Varistors
Multilayer varistors combine overvoltage, electrostatic discharge (ESD), and electric fast transient protection in a single, surface mount device. these ultra-low–profile surge protective devices typically protect printed circuit board and integrated circuit components. Because multilayer varistors perform more than one function, they can replace several larger discrete surge suppressors and signal filtering devices on PCBs. Littelfuse offers several types of multilayer varistors, including devices specifically designed for use in passenger cars and commercial vehicles.
Schottky (Si/SiC)
Silicon Schottky diode rectifiers produce very low forward voltage drops while serving as ac switches in power converts and switched-mode power supplies. The devices can also be used to control the flow of current to other protection diodes. Littelfuse makes almost 100 types of silicon Schottky diodes. Consult our Power Semiconductor Product Catalog to find the best solution for your application.
Cartridge Fuses
Cartridge fuses provide overcurrent protection in agricultural, automotive, data center, industrial, power generation, and residential settings. Available with a broad range of ampere ratings, cartridge-type fuses also come in many sizes and types. The cartridge fuses for commercial and passenger vehicles, for instance, often come housed in color-coded thermoplastic cases. Solar power system cartridge fuses, however, resemble standard glass fuses. When selecting the type of cartridge fuse for your application, check the specifications for time-delayed, medium-acting, or fast-acting performance.
Gate Drivers
Optimize the performance of power semiconductors, rectifiers, inverters, and other solid state switches by using gate driver ICs produced by Littelfuse and our IXYS subsidiary. We make integrated circuits to control IGBTs, MOSFETs, and innovative SiC-MOSFETs. We also offer patented optically isolated gate drivers for use in applications requiring superior fast turnoff performance.
Varistors
Varistors provide transient voltage surge suppression in consumer electronics, household appliances, telecom equipment, and computers. The overvoltage protection devices shield semiconductors and other components from damage due to lightning strikes, and electrostatic discharges. Littelfuse produces metal oxide varistors (MOVs) in surface mount, thermally protected, and radial leaded configurations. In addition to AUMOV®, UltraMOV®, and TMOV® devices, we design specialty varistors to customers’ specifications.
MOSFET Modules
MOSFET modules combine fast recovery diodes with metal-oxide–semiconductor field effect transistors. The resulting solid state switches boast low-resistance and excellent dv/dt ruggedness. This makes the devices well-suited to performing high-speed switching operation while generating little noise or heat. Through its IXYS subsidiary, Littelfuse offers several types of MOSFET modules in single, dual, half-bridge, phase leg, triple phase leg, six-pack, and trench configurations.
MOSFETs (Si/SiC)
Silicon and silicon carbide metal-oxide–semiconductor field effect transistors (MOSFETs) can perform a range of current conversion, current switching, and power factor correction (PFC) operations. This versality makes the power semiconductors first choices for thousands of applications. Littelfuse and its IXYS subsidiary ensure customers have the discrete MOSFET or MOSFET module they need for their rectifier, inverter, or PFC circuit. In addition to supplying several types of off-the-shelf MOSFETs in a wide variety of configurations, we partner with customers to design and produce customized solutions.
NTC - Discrete Sensors
Littelfuse offers a variety of discrete negative temperature coefficient (NTC) sensors and thermistors for temperature sensing, temperature measuring, and process control applications. Our NTC sensor and thermistor portfolio includes bare chip, epoxy-coated, glass-coated chip, and surface mount devices. All boast high accuracy, long-term reliability, stability, and predictable performance in challenging environments.
TVS Diodes
Transient voltage suppressor (TVS) diodes defend against damage from overvoltage events by responding within picoseconds to shunt current to ground. The classic example of TVS diode use is protecting outdoor telecom equipment from lightning strikes. Littelfuse produces surface mount and leaded diodes and TVS diode arrays for that, as well as TVS diodes for cars, personal electronics, data cables, and household appliances. Consult our Circuit Protection Selection Guide to guide your search for a solution.
