EV Infrastructure
Deploying dependable and high-performance EV infrastructure will ensure eMobility fulfills its promise. Littelfuse is doing its part by producing industry-defining circuit protection, power conversion, and power management solutions for AC, fast DC, mobile, and wireless chargers used by all types of electric vehicles.
2/3-Wheeler Chargers
Charging Li-ion batteries for e-scooters, e-bikes, electric motorcycles, and utility vehicles seems simple: Plug in charging cables and wait. But overheating or current and transient voltage surges can damage equipment and start fires. Ensuring onboard battery chargers incorporate high-quality overcurrent and overvoltage protection, as well as rectifiers and temperature sensors, is essential.
AC Chargers
EV charging at home relies on ac chargers that deliver alternating current from wall sockets to onboard battery chargers for Li-ion batteries in electric vehicles. Relatively simple in design, ac charging stations still require several electronic components to ensure efficiency and safety. Littelfuse makes those components, including high-current fuses, reed relays, and devices for ESD protection.
DC Chargers
DC fast chargers with ac–dc converters will make dc fast charging stations as common as gas stations. Not relying on onboard battery chargers to convert alternating current to direct current for Li-ion batteries reduces EV charging time to minutes. Achieving that efficiency requires equipping dc chargers with high-quality rectifiers and overcurrent protection. Littelfuse delivers those components.
EV Wireless Charging
As wireless EV charging becomes available around the world, parking spaces everywhere will double as charging stations. Littelfuse already makes the wireless power transmission solutions needed to complete this next step in the eMobility revolution, including ac converters and transient voltage surge suppresors.
