DC Chargers

DC fast chargers with ac–dc converters will make dc fast charging stations as common as gas stations. Not relying on onboard battery chargers to convert alternating current to direct current for Li-ion batteries reduces EV charging time to minutes. Achieving that efficiency requires equipping dc chargers with high-quality rectifiers and overcurrent protection. Littelfuse delivers those components.

Power Converter Bidirectional

Bidirectional power converters in fast dc chargers reduce Li-ion battery charging times. After a rectifier converts alternating current to direct current, a boost converter steps up the voltage going to an EV. Current can flow both ways across the converter. We make SiC MOSFETs for this purpose, as well as diodes and sensors to optimize metal-oxide–silicon field effect transistor performance.

Power Converter Unidirectional

Unidirectional dc–dc power converters protect EV batteries and fast dc charger circuits by ensuring direct current flows only one way. The SiC MOSFETs Littelfuse makes for this purpose also boost charging efficiency by delivering maximum voltage to electric vehicles. Additionally, our diodes, thyristors, and sensors optimize the performance of our metal-oxide–silicon field effect transistors.
