Protect Building Occupants & Electrical Systems

Boost safety and gain centralized control of building electrical systems by deploying smoke and heat detector, smart outlet, and LED lighting dimmer solutions from Littelfuse. We make sensors for fire detection, relays for alarms, and Type 1 and Type 2 SPDs to protect systems from lightning strikes. We also produce parts for AFCI, GFCI, and RCD outlets to prevent arcs, shocks, and current surges.

AFCI/GFCI/RCD Outlets & Breakers

GFCI outlets, AFCI outlets, and RCD breakers keep the lights on. This block diagram shows Littelfuse components that help the required safety devices break circuits when overcurrents, arc flashes, or residual currents occur. In addition to thyristors that serve as silicon-controlled rectifiers for trip circuits, we make metal oxide varistors and TVS diodes to protect circuits from voltage surges.

Dimmers

Fluorescent and LED light dimmer solutions available from Littelfuse include MOSFETs and triacs for current switching. This block diagram shows other electronic components we can provide. We offer gate drivers for the solid state switches, metal oxide varistors and TVS diodes to protect circuits from voltage surges, and ESD suppressors to protect people from shocks.

Intelligent Outlets

Intelligent outlets let building managers and homeowners control energy use and costs via smartphones, tablets, or voice assistants. A block diagram shows which Littelfuse products help smart outlets operate as designed. Our TVS diode arrays and polymer ESD suppressors keep noise out of wireless signals. In addition, our Schottky diode rectifiers ensure circuits receive the dc power they require.

LED Lighting

Industrial, outdoor, and residential LED lighting systems need different arrangements of electronic components. Block diagrams show how Littelfuse provides solutions for each system. Options include transient voltage surge suppressors and lightning protection devices designed just for LED lights, as well as ac LED drivers with solid state switches for rectification and power factor correction.

Smoke & Heat Detectors

Wired smoke detectors and heat alarms require dependable ac power supplies, highly efficient dc–dc converters, and accurate temperature sensors. Littelfuse provides all of these electronic components, as well as a range of fuses for overcurrent protection and metal oxide varistors and TVS diodes for overvoltage protection.

USB outlets simplify and speed up portable electronic device charging. This block diagram highlights electronic components Littelfuse can supply for this next generation of USB chargers. Our solutions include Schottky diodes and MOSFETs with gate drivers to handle current rectification and ac–dc power conversion. We also offer NTC thermistors to protect battery units.

Circuit Protection

Littelfuse UL fuses protect electrical systems from overload and short circuit. Littelfuse fuses are chosen over breakers due to their higher amperages, quicker response time, easy coordination, and no calibration required. Learn more

Pre-engineered coordination panels provide a complete solution for easy procurement and code compliance in commercial buildings. Shunt trip POWR-Switches meet ANSI/ASME standards and work with fire safety systems. Learn more

Shock Protection for Commercial Buildings

In buildings with commercial kitchens or structures like automotive garages with portable equipment, the NEC requires using a GFCI on 208 V three-phase equipment up to 100 A. Its use on this equipment will protect your employees from electric shock and ensure code compliance. Learn more

Protect Critical Power Systems from Arc-Flash

Switchgear is the lifeline to supply power for critical systems in buildings such as hospitals and datacenters. Dependable protection from arc-flash events is critical to improve reliability of the power supply and prevent personnel injury and equipment damage. Learn more
