Traction Inverters
Traction inverters perform dc-to-ac conversion for drivetrain motors in EVs. A block diagram shows Littelfuse power converters vehicle makers can use, as well as devices that provide overcurrent, overvoltage, and overtemperature spikes protection to inverters and motor controllers. Available solutions include IGBTs and gate drivers, surface mount fuses, TVS diode arrays, and thermal protectors.
Product Categories
TVS Diode Arrays
TVS diode arrays protect electronics from damage due to transient voltage surges and electrostatic discharges (ESDs). Littelfuse offers a variety of these surge protective devices (SPDs) in SOIC, DIP, flipchip, and other designs. Our lightning SPDs direct massive voltage surges from lightning strikes on outdoor equipment to ground. Our ultra-low capacitance TVS diodes provide ESD protection to data ports and cables. We also make SPDs specifically for automotive applications. Find your solution in our Circuit Protection Products Selection Guide.
Fuses
Littelfuse produces more fuses, fuse types and fuse sizes than any other electrical component manufacturer. Our industrial fuses, power fuses, automotive fuses, axial fuses, cartridge fuses, surface mount fuses, specialty fuses, and medium voltage fuses provide overcurrent protection and regulate current flow in practically every device, machine, and electrical system.
Gate Driver ICs
Gate driver integrated circuits (ICs) control the operation of metal-oxide–semiconducotr field effect transistors (MOSFETs) and insulated gate bipolar transistor (IGBTs). Sold state design and a patented process that allows users to program the ICs’ voltage threshold make Littelfuse gate driver ICs ideal replacements for electromechanical relays and discrete diodes. We produce several versions of gate driver ICs specifically for silicon carbide MOSFETs (SiC-MOSFETs) and high-power IGBTs used in applications where fast turnoff is desirable.
Thermal
Metal hybrid protection (MHP) devices combine resettable fuses with bimetallic thermal cutoff devices to provide overcurrent and overtemperature protection to rechargeable batteries. MHP devices, which are also called battery mini breakers, protect Li-ion and lithium polymer batteries for notebook PCs and power tools. They are also small enough to use with prismatic cells for mobile phones. The MHP devices made by Littelfuse rely on our innovative PolySwitch® polymer positive temperature coefficient (PPTC) technology to ensure long-lived resettable fuse performance.
TVS Diodes
Transient voltage suppressor (TVS) diodes defend against damage from overvoltage events by responding within picoseconds to shunt current to ground. The classic example of TVS diode use is protecting outdoor telecom equipment from lightning strikes. Littelfuse produces surface mount and leaded diodes and TVS diode arrays for that, as well as TVS diodes for cars, personal electronics, data cables, and household appliances.
