Frequently Asked Questions

What are momentary switches?

Momentary switches stay in the ON or OFF state only while being actuated. They are often push-button switches or toggle switches and may be used in applications such as controlling lighting that is activated by the opening of a door, engine start/stop, horns, and more.

How do momentary switches work?

Momentary switches temporarily complete or open a circuit when the actuator is engaged. Momentary switches typically use a spring to either hold the contacts apart (normally open) or together (normally closed) until the actuator is engaged. When the operator disengages or releases the button or other type of actuator, the contacts return to their normal position.
