Ambient Light Sensor

Ambient light sensors detect visible light with the same sensitivity as the human eye. When installed in commercial and passenger vehicles, the sensors produce information that electronic control units use to brighten or dim instrument panels and daytime running lights. Littelfuse engineers partner with automakers to custom design each ambient light sensor for a class or family of vehicles. Options for the automotive sensors that can be specified include spectral characteristics, package size and shape, terminal material, connector type, and including a temperature sensor and LED indicator.
  • Operate at 5 V
  • Operate in a range of temperatures from –40 ℃ to 105 ℃
  • Output produced as an analog current converted to voltage with a pull-up resistor
  • Detect visible light (illuminance) in a range of 0 lx to 3.5 klx
  • Operate with a wide range of windscreen types
  • Output linearly proportional to irradiance
  • Patented diffuser technology provides horizon-to-horizon response
  • Each sensor laser-calibrated
