Ignition IGBTs turn the flow of current for electronic fuel ignition coils on and off. The insulated-gate bipolar transistors Littelfuse makes for this purpose are specifically designed for use in coil-on-plug ignition systems and can mount directly on inductive coils, The solid state switches also provide protection against electrostatic discharges and overvoltage events. This prevents vehicle fires and fuel tank explosions.
