Thyristors (SCR & TRIAC)

Discrete thyristors act as unidirectional or bidirectional solid state switches and overvoltage protection devices in electronic equipment. Thyristors take many forms, and certain applications require combining more than one type. Littelfuse fulfills those needs by producing several versions of silicon controlled rectifier (SCR) thyristors, triodes for alternating current (TRIACs), and Quadracs, which bring together TRIACs and diodes for alternating circuits (DIACs). We also make separate DIACs as gate triggers for thyristors. Applications for discrete thyristors include motor speed, lighting, and heater controls.
