Buck Choppers

Buck choppers redirect current flowing through circuits while also decreasing (stepping down) the voltage. Littelfuse subsidiary IXYS produces this IGBT module as a solid state switch that relies on a MOSFET gate-control structure and the high current and low saturation voltage characteristics of a BJT to perform fast switching with high efficiency. Our buck choppers serve well in swiched mode power supplies. Combining it with a boost converter creates a switched reluctance motor drive unit.
