Boost Choppers

Boost choppers redirect current flowing through circuits while also increasing (stepping up) the voltage. Littelfuse subsidiary IXYS produces several types of these IGBT modules in trench and extreme-light punch through (XPT) configurations. Each of the solid state switches relies on a MOSFET gate-control structure and the high current and low saturation voltage characteristics of a BJT to perform fast switching with high efficiency. Our boost choppers serve well in ac motor drives, power factor correction circuits, inverters, and uninterruptible power supplies. They can also be used as ac motor brakes.
  • Collector–emitter voltage (Vces) ratings from 1.2 V to 1.7 V
