N-channel depletion MOSFETs offer reliable switching and current-regulating solutions for always-on circuits, such as those for emergency and burglar alarms. These metal-oxide–semiconductor field effect transistors operate as normally on solid state switches. Unlike other MOSFETs, they require no start-up voltage to open. Like other MOSFETs, they mount easily on printed circuit boards.
- Rated at 1 kV dc
- Normally on operation
- Available with blocking voltages of 100 V dc to 1700 V dc
- Low resistance while on (i.e., 1.4 Ω, 10 Ω)
- Epoxy case with UL 94 flammability rating of V-0
- Require zero turn-on voltage at gate terminal
- High power densities
- Ensure low power loss in always-on circuits
- Easy to mount on PCBs
