TRIAC

Properly named triodes for alternating current, TRIACs act as thyristors. They serve as solid state switches in heaters, lighting controls, and motor drives for power tools and home appliances. Three versions of the ac switches exist. Sensitive TRIACs open and close low-voltage digital control circuits. Standard TRIACs ensure the continuous flow of alternating current. Alternistor TRIACs handle high-speed switching tasks that produce large inductive loads. Each TRIAC produced by Littelfuse comes in sensitive, standard, and alternistor versions. All are designed for mounting on the surface of printed circuit boards.
